Tip for Softer Hands During the Winter!
Cold dry air combined
with the drying effect of washing with soap can really cause hands to be extra
dry during the winter months. But, we’re
certainly not going to avoid washing our hands!
So here’s a tip to help combat dryness: if you buy a concentrated liquid soap to
refill your soap dispenser add a little honey to the mix when you refill! I add
about ¼ to ½ teaspoon to the soap & water mix in my refillable soap foaming
dispenser. The result is a richer,
creamier lather and softer skin!
Anyone who knows me knows I am
a big fan of honey for skincare, it has been used for thousands of years in
caring for skin and is hydrating & moisturizing, it also balances the
skin's pH level and acts as a humectant, drawing moisture from the air to your
skin for long lasting results. As a bonus the bacteria-killing properties of honey
increase when diluted with water because
a chemical reaction takes place that creates a natural hydrogen peroxide, a
very powerful natural antibiotic.
But be sure to use a real
honey! Be aware that some of those mass
produced brands (like many that are sold in the supermarket in a honey bear) are
likely to be heavily cut with corn syrup! It’s best to use a good quality preferably
unprocessed honey. A honey produced
locally to you is also a great idea. Support
your local beekeepers!
Here’s to our health!
